The Bexon Bureau
- March 2024
Welcome to issue 5 of the Bexon Bureau. March was a big month here in Gubbi Gubbi country, tank loads of rain, badass live shows, enough surf to satiate the masses, and of course, lots of surfboards. This issue, we'll look at a few finer moments from the month - it was an epic one.
Apr 03
First up, the beginning of March brought Husni Ridhwan back to town. He had a new 9'4" Malibu on arrival and surfed it every day of the month - Hus reckons it was the best run of waves he's had in years. Onya Hus, and safe travels back to Java.
So yeah, unless you've been living under a rock (a preferable state, at times), you'd be aware that the surf has been pumping around these parts. Here's some of the fam sampling the fruits of mother nature's labour. Frames by Hunter Vercoe.
That's Victoria Vergaraabove, putting a 9'5" Scoop Tail to use. It's been a while since we've seen logging waves of this quality at Noosa. Little Cove was the standout and it was a pleasure to watch Victoria make the most of it.
Issue 5's ShitYeah award goes to father-son duo, Adam and Ash... whose matching fish in 5'3" and 5'9" was our favourite custom order. Reach out to discuss co-founder Jake Bowrey's renowned abstract game via our Custom Order page.
Another year and another hellova party here at the Factory to kick off the Noosa Festival of surfing. Needless to say, there were many sore heads at the teams challenge the next morning.
Amongst the shenanigans, we had the Australian premiere of Kang's Retreat - which was a great success. Kang's is set for online release on the 26th of April! Keep an eye out. We're proud to be able to produce projects like this with our close friends - shit yeah.
We also witnessed an exceptional performance by Naarm based, underground heroes, Dr. Sure's Unusual Practice, whose blend of new-wave-punk-synth-sociopolitical-dance-sickaz music was as memorable as their stage presence i.e. brilliantly.
And to cap the night off, resident sander, and now potential resident DJ, Neon Leon wrapped the night with a set of dance classics. Check out that lil D-Floor scene below - stay young!
There was, of course, also a contest goin' on. This was the 33rd edition of the Noosa Festival of Surfing - nine days straight of waves at First Point - it must be some kind of record. Hometown hero and event lifeguard Stuart Jeys (pictured below) was a star of the logger event, while Sierra Lerback boldly competed in five divisions, and Matt Cuddihy's class landed him in the Old Mal final, where if you ask Di and Win, he was robbed. Big thanks to Mellisa Hoareau for the event photos.
And though we've been having a great time at it, it's worth reminding the reader that while the fun's going on, Doc's only ever one step away from the shaping bay.
And it's not just him, the whole factory team is dedicated to the craft - from Big Con to Neon Leon - shout out to our staff!
Kang's Retreat is set to release on the 26th of April via NobodySurf - but we're offering early access to anyone who purchases a piece of Kang's merch online - a bootlegged USB version will be sent out with your merch! "Yes boiz."
Our final premiere is set for the same exact moment - with a live Q&A conducted by the NobodySurf team in Tokyo - at Adrift Shimokitazawa.

Almost the whole surf team is now in Sumner getting ready for the 10th annual edition of the event - good luck to everyone!
